The low level of industrialization of sewage treatment industry is the fundamental reason for restricting technology supply and technological innovation. The essence of industrialization is standardized continuous production, and its core is the continuity of production, the standardization of products, and the integration of each stage of the production process.

Sewage treatment industry mainly relies on government investment, design institute design led project construction, technical configuration in bulk, operation management (water enterprises) rely more on the experience of engineers, has not yet formed the continuous production, standardization, intensification, industry industrialization degree is not high.

Referring to the "six links" development law of scientific and technological innovation in the book "Building a Bridge of Transformation" (FIG. 1), the international scientific and technological innovation "six links" development law is further divided into upper, middle and lower three links: the upstream for technological breakthrough, the middle for engineering and industrialization, and the downstream for marketization, scale and branding, and its capital investment ratio is 1:10:100. In China, the vast majority of resources are invested in the upstream and downstream, while the proportion of resource investment in the middle reaches is very small, forming a gap in industrialization. Analyzing the reasons, it can be seen that scientific research institutes and design institutes are leading technological breakthroughs and engineering, and water enterprises and capital are leading scale and branding, that is to say, design institutes (or research institutes) and water enterprises are making their own efforts at both ends of industrialization, and there is almost no main body to do it in the middle of industrialization.

Industrialization upgrade is inseparable from technology productization

How to achieve industrial upgrading of sewage treatment? Industrialization upgrading needs to be productized, supporting the three links of sewage treatment industrialization - component productization, technology productization, and service productization. Part productization is the basis of technology productization, which provides the basic hardware guarantee for technology productization. The productization of components and technology is the basis of service productization, which provides hardware guarantee and technical support for the realization of service productization in sewage treatment plants. At present, the product of components has been relatively mature, such as valves, fans and so on; Technology productization (process technology) is still in its infancy, and service productization is in a blank state. Therefore, the key link that restricts the industrialization and upgrading of sewage treatment is technology productization.

Without the productization of sewage treatment technology, there will be no efficient marketization, scale, and branding.
